Boxer is a very important friend for benjaman in the novel. We can see this because of how hard benjamin is trying to save him at the end completely changing his whole personality just to to save his good friend boxer. Benjaman is an old donkey on the farm and does not have many friends or people to hang out with or talk that’s why he has boxer. Boxer is shown to mean alot to benjamin and cares for him and likes him. This is then why benjaman is so upset and is trying his hardest to keep boxer in his life. Also without this friendship we wouldn’t be able to see benjamin change in such a way. The author has made this bond between the two animals so that he can later on add boxer getting taken a way to add some sadness to book. This can also be related to the real life scenarios where friends mean so much to one another and can be a very important thing in their life. The same thing has been used to show the friendship between benjamin and boxer.
